Para esta edición una vez más hay presencia mexicana, pues Guillermo del Toro competirá en cuatro categorías en los Oscar 2022 con la cinta El Callejón de las almas perdidas que son: Mejor Película, Mejor Fotografía, Mejor Diseño de Producción y Mejor Diseño de Vestuario.
El mexicano Carlos Estrada también competirá en la categoría de Mejor Película Animada con el largometraje Rayan and the Last Dragon, mientras que la mexicoamericana KD Dávila competirá con Please Hold, nominado como Mejor Cortometraje de Acción Real.
